research & practice

As a researcher in the Marine Affairs Coastal Resilience Lab (MACRL), an interdisciplinary research group focused on enhancing climate resilience for the coastal-built environment, my research seeks, inter alia, to improve understanding of the mechanisms that affect, and methods to assess the climate-resilience of seaports and other large scale, coast-dependent infrastructure systems. As the Oceanography Officer at SPREP, I coordinate the Pacific Islands Global Ocean Observing System and manage the New Zealand Pacific Partnership on Ocean Acidification. As a conjoint Senior Lecturer in the School of Environmental and Life Sciences at the University of Newcastle, we are researching coral adaptation to ocean acidification in the atolls of Tokelau and Kiribati.
